Boston, Massachusetts – 1887
Margaret Sinclair is a fiery, free-spirited woman who longs to break away from Boston life to marry a handsome man in the West. She and her friends work together in a textile mill, but all of them wish for a better life. One day, they decide to peruse the mail order bride advertisements in the newspaper, and Margaret is drawn to an ad placed by the town doctor in Missoula Mills, Montana.
Dr. Stephen Wyatt is a kind and gentle man who has spent his life caring for patients, but he is lonely and longs for a wife to keep him company and give his life an even greater sense of purpose. When Margaret comes to him, it is as if both of their dreams have become true.
She begins to train as a nurse at the nearby orphanage and loves what she does, but one day disaster strikes. Many of the children become deathly ill, and it is not long before Margaret falls ill as well.
Will the good doctor be able to heal his benevolent bride before it is too late?
